ENVIRONMENT The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet
Available from 4 December The Prince of Wales’s environmental awards are back for a second year. Winners from around the world receive £1 million to scale up their inventions to help tackle the climate crisis. Finalists include a project that turns desert into farmable land and efforts to create wildlife corridors for orangutans between fragments of habitat in Malaysia. Available now Her reputation may be as a cosy writer who crafted parlour-game mysteries, but Agatha Christie was — according to Worsley — someone who subverted detective fiction in radical ways. In this insightful three-parter, the historian explores Christie’s flair for narrative fiendishness by delving into her uneasy childhood before probing her disappearance in 1926. Available now Fun fact: Loyle Carner is a foodie, and runs a cookery school for kids called Chilli Con Carner. And true to form, the London rapper arrives at Maida Vale for this 6 Music video special with a pastry in one hand and his new album in his other. The station has been a champion of Carner since his early days and now it’s payback time, as he delves into his sonic cookery book to show how he gets his beats (or should that be beets?) so juicy.
