Mysteries of the Pyramids with Dara O Briain

But robbers were tempted by the treasures within and a more complicated, protective tomb was devised: the pyramid. In this concluding episode, Dara O Briain investigates, spending a happy hour or two scrambling around the underground maze of Egypt’s first stepped pyramid at Saqqara. As a similar one was being erected in Peru at the same time, there’s an interesting side discussion on whether aliens were responsible.

Egyptology docs are two a penny, but O Briain’s knack of asking erudite yet entertaining questions makes this worth watching. JANE RACKHAM
