Just a few weeks shy of the first-year anniversar­y of its main line return, Boden Rail’s Transrail-liveried No. 37240 has finally worked its first proper trains after previously being limited to light engine moves and route learning trips. Hired to Colas Rail, it was let loose on Network Rail test train duties and stock moves in the second half of March. Its debut was a 1Q43 Crewe-Crewe circular via the Manchester area with No. 97304 on the 17th, after tailing the 1Z60 Derby RTC-Crewe positionin­g move earlier the same day (see photo on page 16). Then on March 26, the Type 3 took Network Rail DVTs Nos. 82111 and 82145 from Derby for store at Long Marston, this move pictured leaving Worcester. Rod Orr
