IRM’S POPULAR CIÉ TARA MINES WAGONS RETURN

-

IRISH Railway Models (IRM) has announced a rerun of its hugely popular ‘OO’ gauge CIÉ Tara Mines wagons.

They are used to haul zinc ore from the Tara mine in Co. Meath to Dublin in the heaviest trains to work on the Irish railways on a daily basis.

When introduced in the late 1970s, the wagons were painted in an attractive mid-blue livery with ‘Tara’ legends applied to the sides, a livery that will be applied to the new run of wagons. IRM did not offer the blue livery in the first run of the models together with the original hoods because of the lack of a suitable A Class locomotive model to go with them; the A Class being the sole traction for Tara Mines traffic for many years.

With a ‘OO’ gauge A Class in the works at IRM, release of the wagons as five packs of two separately numbered wagons now makes sense. Each pack is the same price as the first run of wagons at €79.95 (Euro). Livery samples are subject to some final tweaks before production commences for a late 2021 delivery. irishrailwaymodels.co.uk/ collections/tara-mines.

Detailing of the models includes an exquisite representation of the wagon framing and brake equipment.

?? ?? The IRM ‘OO’ gauge Tara Mines wagon is being reissued with original hoods and finished in blue with Tara branding. Five packs of two wagons are offered for preorder at €79.95. They will allow an authentic 10-wagon train to be collected.
