The four 384ft high cooling towers at Rugeley power station, which closed in 2016, and were for many West Coast Main Line travellers an iconic landmark of the route, were demolished on June 6. Seconds before they were reduced to rubble on a very wet Sunday morning, No. 390156 speeds past on the down fast with the 1H03 Euston-Manchester Piccadilly service. Shortly after, and before the dust has settled, No. 390129 moves cautiously by with 1S52 Euston-Carlisle working.
