DIESEL DIARY ‘Deltics' to visit Great Central Railway

THE Deltic Preservation Society's

No. 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier will be the guest visitor at the Great Central Railway gala on September 3-5. It was due to arrive from Barrow Hill during the first half of August, and is expected to remain on the line until October when, subject to completion of repairs, it will be joined for one weekend by No. D9009 Alycidon.

No. D9009, which has been out of service since March 2019 after a power surge caused severe damage to the loco, will undergo shakedown testing at the GCR in advance of a hoped-for return to the main line in 2022.
