DAPOL REVEALS PRE-PRODUCTION CLASS 66

-

Recent news of Dapol's ‘O' gauge models includes a further update on progress with its Class 66 project which has reached the engineering prototype stage where the first assembled but undecorated models are currently under evaluation. As reported previously in Rail Express Modeller, the models may be preordered from Dapol with no deposit being required. With a price of £336.38 for the analogue version and £475 for a digital sound model, the first batch of models is likely to be very popular. It includes EWS, Freightliner Powerhaul, DRS and a handful of special GB Railfreight livery schemes which have a planned delivery in Autumn 2022.

The specification of the model, which will feature sub-class specific detailing, includes LED running lights, cab lights and illuminated driver's desk panels included in the electronics. Two motor and flywheel assemblies will provide power which will be carefully balanced for optimum operation and powerful enough for heavy trains. Detailing comprises of metal hand rails, cab interiors and a variety of etched metal grilles and separate detailing components applied to an injection moulded plastic bodyshell.
