Dive-under disappointment for ‘Deviator'
DB Cargo has advised UK Railtours that it does not have the resources to operate ‘The York Deviator' (October 9) tour which would have been the first charter to use the new multi-million-pound Werrington dive-under at Werrington Junction, three miles north of Peterborough. As a result, UKR has deleted the tour from its website.
The freight operator also had issues resourcing the Scottish Railway Preservation Society's Tornado-hauled charter to Inverness from Edinburgh which had to be cancelled at two weeks' notice with a vast amount of cost and personal inconvenience to SRPS officials. The SRPS is using West Coast Railways to operate its three charters in October – see table.
