2022-return of Heljan ‘OO’ favourites
In response to demand from retailers and customers, the Heljan Waggon & Maschinenbau (W&M) diesel rail bus will make a welcome return in seven different liveries, including BR green, with livery variations and weathering, alongside BR departmental red and blue and BR Research ‘Track Recording lab’ yellow and brown schemes.
The 2022 batch will feature LED lighting instead of the original lamps and will be priced at £179. Weathered versions, which include BR green Nos. E 79960 and E 79964, are priced at £189.
The Class 07 dock shunting locomotive will reappear as two versions: with vacuum brake details and the air-brakes with waist height brake pipes. The batch of seven models, plus one rerun, includes No. 07001 in Peakstone livery; an Army version based on Ruston locomotives operated on military railways and heritage locomotives. BR rail blue and green versions feature strongly in the range, including weathered Nos. 07011 and D2994.
Teddy Bears return to meet demand for these cult locomotives, with seven models listed for release in 2022 including BR green models and several industrials. NCB South Wales pale blue No. D9530 is one; with BP light green No. D9524 the second of the three. Buckminster Quarries No. 21 is likely to be an interesting addition
Seven new versions of the ‘OO’ gauge Class 07 shunter, together with the rerun of one industrial, are included in the 2022/23 Heljan catalogue for release in 2022.
Clayton Type 1s are more successful in model form than ever they were in real life. Modellers now have six new ‘OO’ gauge versions to look forward to in 2022.
to the range, too. One model will be offered in a train pack as No. D9553 in BR green, accompanied with four BR black ‘Dogfish’ ballast wagons for £329.
The ill-fated Clayton Type 1 locomotives continue to be popular with modellers, prompting a new batch of six models in common BR blue and BR green liveries, with various yellow panel and number combinations.
The odd-ball in this new lot is
No. 17007 finished in Railfreight grey, a guise they might have worn had they survived to see operation in the 1980s. Two weathered and one heritage locomotive are included in the batch, which is likely to be as fast selling as previous releases.
Preparation of the new Heljan catalogue has taken the requests of retailers and modellers into account, with the planned reissue of popular models. Class 14 Teddy Bears have gained cult status in recent times, with so many of the class in preservation prompting the announcement of seven new models.
The Waggon & Maschinenbau (W&M) diesel rail bus returns in seven guises including RTC Lab 20 and BR Research ‘Track Recording lab’ yellow and brown.
All of the pristine locomotive models are priced at £179, with weathered versions costing £189. The excellent cross-section of classes, liveries and eras together with
weathered editions should satisfy most modellers’ needs, particularly as the Class 07 and Class 14 will appeal to the builders of compact layouts.
