565 Railtours Class 37 treat

Advance notice is given for a Class 37 bonanza for next year – running for three days, June 24-26. Simon Pilkington runs 565 Railtours, (the number is after his late father’s police sergeant’s number) and his tours are usually run associated with charities.

Friday, June 24 – a one-way positional move from Edinburgh to Crewe, but picking up at Newcastle and, possibly, York.

Saturday, June 25 – a return trip from Crewe, via Shrewsbury to South Wales with an aspirational plan to use the Central Wales line, thence to Fishguard and a return via Cardiff and the Marches route.

Sunday, June 26 – a return from Crewe and Shrewsbury along the Cambrian coast to Porthmadog.

The SRPS stock, due to be used on all three days, will not be taken back to Scotland as it is booked for further work in the Midlands.

Three or more Class 37s are envisaged to be working the train throughout the weekend, in addition to the expected Network Rail Class 97/3 machines. No bookings are being taken yet until details are firmed up.
