‘CHOPPER’ INCIDENT:

On September 21, Class 20 No. 20189 leaves Whitby working the 10.00 Whitby to Pickering service on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Less than an hour later, the hired-in locomotive was involved in a shunting accident at Grosmont with Mk.1 carriage stock, which caused the train to be cancelled and resulted in a referral to the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) – see Preservation, page 33.
