NEW STATIONS
CROSSRAIL/ELIZABETH LINE (H1 2022)
Five new station areas will open in central London (Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon and Liverpool Street), while a further five will open outside Zone 1 (Whitechapel, Canary Wharf, Custom House, Woolwich and Abbey Wood.). Whether all central London stations will open simultaneously is not clear.
RESTON (March)
The first station likely to open next year is on the electrified East Coast Main
Line in Scotland, where a two-platform
READING GREEN PARK (June)
A two-platform station will open on the double track Reading-Basingstoke line, with GWR local services calling half-hourly on weekdays to serve the eponymous business park as well as the nearby Madejski stadium.
MARSH BARTON (July)
Situated on the two-track Great Western Main Line to Plymouth, between Exeter and Newton Abbott, this two-platform station will be served by GWR ‘Devon Metro’ services.
BARKING RIVERSIDE (autumn)
No date has yet been set for this two-platform terminus station built on viaduct at the end of a double track
OHL electrified branch off the LT&S lines east of Barking. The station, which will be operated by TfL, is already largely complete (see First Looks, December 2021 issue) and will eventually be served by London Overground Class 710 EMUs, extending the existing GOBLIN
DALCROSS (December)
Another two-platform station, on the main line connecting Aberdeen with Inverness, it is located just south of Inverness Airport and a bus shuttle will link the two transport facilities.
BRENT CROSS WEST (December)
Serving the huge Brent Cross regeneration area, this fourplatform station on the electrified Midland Main Line will be served by
