‘37’ joins Strathspey Railway fleet
HOMELESS since December 2020,
No. 37674 has found a new home at the Strathspey Railway, where it arrived in late November. The English Electric ‘Type 3’ had previously been based at the Wensleydale Railway since 2014, and after its departure, the owner hoped to take it to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway – however, no agreement was forthcoming, and after spending around two weeks in a layby near Skipton, it was moved to Allely’s yard at Studley while a new base was sought. While many will remember
No. 37674 as a Cornish china clay engine, it does have a Scottish connection, being based at Motherwell in 1999/2000. Stopped at Wensleydale for repairs in June 2018, it carries red stripe Railfreight colours.
