BRAND-NEW DELTIC FOR ‘O’ GAUGE

-

Class 55 locomotives were retired from mainline service 40 years’ ago next year, prompting a brand-new model with completely new toolings in ‘O’ gauge, which will focus on the last years of service with BR and the subsequent career as heritage locomotives working on the main line.

The 1975 to 1982 period determines the first of two new versions currently in development at Heljan, fitted with cast bogies, electric train supply (ETH); headcode panel plating and quarter light cab window modifications.

The second version of the new model covers the use of the surviving locomotives on the main line with features such as squareframed headlights, fabricated bogies and heritage interpretations of Deltic liveries.

The all-new tooling will bring a more refined level of detail compared to earlier releases, along with locomotive-specific detailing and features. The drive will follow Heljan’s current twin-motor and flywheel configuration together supported by all-wheel current collection, advanced lighting features and DCC interface.

?? ?? Marking the 40th anniversary of their retirement from the main line, Heljan completely retools the Class 55 Deltic with emphasis on the locomotives in their twilight years and on the main line as heritage locomotives.
