‘N’ GAUGE JHA PROTOTYPES

Dapol has pressed on with work on its new ‘N' gauge Orenstein & Koppel JHA wagons following the release of the ‘OO' gauge models which are reviewed in this issue (see pM18). The new models follow a similar format with a plastic moulded hopper body fitted out with etched metal end platforms and walkways. Two liveries will be offered with a split of four inner and six outer wagons, including the original Large ‘Y' scheme and the later livery applied in the late 1990s.

A NEM coupling box compatible coupling bar has been designed for inner wagons and the inner end of the outer wagons, whilst conventional draw gear and standard ‘N' gauge couplings are fitted to one end of the outer wagons. Close coupling cams are also incorporated in the design. Each wagon is priced at £39.95 with delivery anticipated in the latter half of 2022.

Following the announcement of an ‘N’ gauge Class 59 model, new ‘N’ gauge JHA wagons were added to the Dapol range. JHAs have reached engineering prototype stage with samples being assessed prior to livery samples being ordered.
