More galas announced – but some lines remain cautious

THE list of confirmed gala dates for 2022 continues to expand, although, in light of the recent events, some railways are continuing to remain prudent when it comes to announcing plans for the year.

The Wensleydale Railway held a very successful running day with

No. 37250 on December 24, 2021, and has plans to operate diesel-hauled services on the first Sunday of the month, starting in March or April, with the rostered loco advertised in advance.

No. 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier has several running days at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway following its gala appearance there in April 2021. The Deltic is pencilled in to operate on May 7/8/14/15/21/22, June 2-5/14/28.

Chris Gee No. 37250 was in use on a passenger train for the first time since 2019 and on Christmas Eve 2021 partnered with 33035 and the recently restored rake of BR blue and grey Mk.2 coaches at the Wensleydale Railway. Here it arrives at Bedale on the 11.15 Constable Burton-Leeming Bar shuttle.
