‘Deltic Scotsman Farewell’ anniversary run postponed

The DPS has had to withdraw from the planned 40th anniversary railtour scheduled for April 30, which was to commemorate the final Deltic-hauled railtour in BR days on January 2, 1982. This is due to delays in returning D9009 Alycidon to full working order.

Graham Clarke, DPS head of engineering, felt it was unwise to commit to this tour as the DPS was required to sanction it in January. With static testing, mileage accumulation and both heritage line and main line high speed runs still to be done, it was felt prudent to delay the loco's return to main line action. A new date will be confirmed later, possibly running as a 40+1 tribute in January 2023.
