‘WESTERN’ PROGRESS

AN examination of the failed power unit on No. D1015 Western Champion has revealed that there has been metal to metal contact through the oil film, which ultimately caused a bearing to seize. A replacement, overhauled, power unit has been fitted to the loco and is in the process of being reconnected.
