DfT extends GTR contract for three years
ON March 25, the Department of Transport announced that it was awarding a three-year contract to Govia, a joint venture between the Go-Ahead Group (65%) and Keolis (35%) for train maintenance and operation of the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) network.
The network was established in July 2015 as a result of the consolidation of the Great Northern, Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express rail networks. This latest contract runs from April 1, with the option to extend for a further three years. GTR is the
UK’s largest rail network with 1300km of track. The TOC runs 516 train sets, manages 235 stations and employs 7400 people.
