New Leeds commuter station underway
CONSTRUCTION has started of a new £26.5 million station in south Leeds. The two-platform station, to be named White Rose, is located next to the White Rose office park, shopping centre and bus interchange and is situated between Morley and Cottingley on the main trans-Pennine route to Manchester via Huddersfield.
Rail infrastructure specialist Spencer Group is building the station on behalf of development partners West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Leeds City Council, the Department for Transport, Network Rail and Munroe K.
The station is expected to open in 2023.
