IN FAVOUR OF HSTS

I HAVE just been reading the RAIB report on the accident at Carmont in Scotland involving a ScotRail HST set (front cover story, May issue). Some of the reports and comments about the (crashworthiness of) Class 43 power cars I do not agree with, as they have been running on the UK network for over 40 years and have given good service. I speak as an ex-Crewe Works man, who built them in the erecting shop.
