LAST used by Virgin Cross Country, Mk.3 TGS No. 44089 was dispatched by road from the former York

Carriage Works to EMR, Kingsbury, for scrapping on May 4. The coach was one of three TGS vehicles bought by Grand Central for its King’s Cross to Sunderland services, but a later decision to locate the guard in the buffet car meant that none of them were overhauled or saw any use. The coach was moved to York, where it was used as a training vehicle, from Long Marston, in 2017. The other two Grand Central TGS vehicles were scrapped by CF Booth in 2015

(No. 44088) and 2018 (No. 44065).

Eastern Rail Services has also sold the two coaches used in the film ‘Last Train to Christmas Town’, TRSB No. 40402 and TGS No. 44015, to Bay Studios at Swansea.
