AMERICAN switcher, No. FWDX 0002, that was at RSS’ Wishaw yard during April, was forwarded to Long Marston on May 4. Here, the loco’s body was lifted by two mobile cranes and placed on the three-axle former SD40 bogie that forms its running gear. The shunter is due to be demonstrated at the Rail Live event in June.

RUSTON 88DS No. 321727 of 1952 was delivered to the Anglesey Transport and Agriculture Museum on April 26. The unrestored shunter has a local connection as it previously worked at the Associated Octel plant at Amlwch, to where it was delivered new before being replaced by other locos. More recently, it has been stored at the Anglesey Central Railway at Llannerchymedd. Restoration is planned over the coming years as funds permit.

THE latest addition to the collection of Andrew Briddon is Yorkshire

Engine Company No. 2895 Earl of Strafford (sic), which is an 0-6-0DH built in 1964. Latterly located at the Elsecar Heritage Railway, the partlydismantled shunter was collected on April 25 and transferred to the Darley Dale workshops of its new owner to await its turn for restoration.

FORMER British Steel diesel electric Bo-Bo No. 804 has been scrapped on site at Railworld, Peterborough, by Sims Metals. Dating from 1950, the loco was built by the American Locomotive Company (Alco) to

Works No. 77778 and had been on static display since the late 1980s, subsequently suffering from vandalism and theft. The loco was one of five based at Port Talbot for over 30 years and leaves No. 801 as the sole survivor, which is being restored at the Nene Valley Railway and will benefit from numerous parts recovered from its sister.
