Tea for two?

-

SINCE Covid, there has been an increase in demand for pairs of seats, i.e. single seats facing each other in First Class accommodation. There is still a noticeable reluctance for railtourers to sit with another pair of complete strangers in a block of four seats. The supplement charged to passengers may seem excessive, but, as one leading organiser told Rail Express: “The public has no qualms in paying – the railtour companies are charging what the market will bear”. Statesman Rail charges £40 per seat, as does Pathfinder Tours, with the UK Railways fee being £30 per person. Locomotive Services’ Inter-City modern traction tours brand also charges £30.
