1938 Tube Stock railtours planned
WITH details arriving too late for our Railtours section (see p86), tickets have gone on sale for railtours utilising the preserved four-car set of 1938 Tube Stock on September 3/4. Organised by London Transport Museum, trains will run between Amersham and Watford at the outer reaches of the Metropolitan Line (not the stock’s original stomping ground of the Bakerloo, Northern and Piccadilly Lines). There will be three return departures each day at 10.46, 12.46 and 14.46, with total journey time of just over an hour, plus a single departure each day at 15.46 running Amersham to Harrow-on-the-Hill (38 minutes). Tickets, which cost £25/£17 (return/single) for adults and £17/£11 for concessions and children (4-17), must be booked online in advance at
