HELJAN took advantage of the DEMU Showcase exhibition to report on its current projects, which are quite numerous in number, placing Heljan as one of the major players in the hobby for both ‘OO’ and ‘O’ gauge models. Pre-production prototypes of various models were displayed at the show including samples of the much anticipated ‘OO’ gauge Class 104 DMU which was displayed for the first time.

Scottish Region modellers will be keeping an eye on progress of the ‘OO’ gauge Class 26 detailed for Far North Line operation including the distinctive headlights. Another Scottish locomotive presented for the first time is NBL No. 10800, a single locomotive prototype which is certain to be a popular model.

Heljan describes them as ‘next generation models’ with new levels of authenticity, quality of tooling of both the main assemblies and small fittings. Detail specific to certain trains and locomotives is now being tooled together with upgraded internal electronics for authentic lighting control and advanced DCC features.

?? ?? The ‘OO’ gauge Class 104 emerged in July in the form of pre-production models. The project to represent this once numerous first generation DMU Class in ‘OO’ gauge is a large and ambitious undertaking.
