DARSTAED PULLMAN PRICES ANNOUNCED

THE first impressions of the brandnew ‘O’ gauge Type K all-steel Pullman coaches emerged after a long silence following their announcement. Colourised CAD images were released showing both exterior and interior of the coaches together with pricing for individual coaches and complete trains.

The models will set an even higher standard for ‘O’ gauge rollingstock. Fully modelled interiors including decorated walls and partitions along with seating properly coloured with the right ‘upholstery’ patterns are part of the impressive specification for these models. Interior lighting including illuminated table lamps are included in the design.

The bogies will be fitted with roller bearings to ensure the stock is fully free-rolling for operation of the longest of the postwar Pullman trains. The magnetic gangways have been upgraded for improved operation on curves as tight as second radius. In fact, the company reports that achieving working gangways for the sharp curves needed to fit ‘O’ gauge into a reasonable space became quite an engineering challenge. Juana is a First Class parlour car which, like the rest of the brand-new range of ‘O’ gauge Type K all-steel Pullman cars, is at the CAD stage. Prices start at £399 each with discounts for larger quantities.

Car No. 77 is a Brake Third coach. Darstaed is producing sufficient vehicles to allow many of the named Pullman trains to be modelled.
