PRESERVATION

■ MID-AUGUST saw major progress with Ruston & Hornsby 0-4-0DE No. 418600 at the Tanfield Railway, with the 1958-built shunter making the first significant moves under its own power for a number of years. Further work is required though before the loco, otherwise known as Tyne Improvement Commission No. 35, is ready for traffic.
