COLNE VALLEY ANNOUNCES DIESEL GALA

A late addition to the listing of diesel events for 2022 is the Colne Valley Railway’s gala on October 16. A home fleet event, it should feature resident shunters, DMUs and an HST set all in action.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway’s resident diesel fleet is expected to be enhanced by the visit of a DRS Class 57/3 or 66, plus C20LS’ No. 20001, at its gala on September 23-25.

SEPTEMBER CANCELLATIONS

Difficulty in sourcing guest engines, and low availability of home fleet locos resulted in the Great Central Railway cancelling its diesel gala on September 3/4 and replacing it with a diesel running weekend, using all available home fleet locos and visiting railcar No. 79900 Iris.

Similarly, the Middleton Railway postponed its ‘90 years of the diesel’ event, planned to take place on

September 10/11, until spring 2023, owing to what it described as “a result of operational problems both with potential visiting locomotives and with some of our own locomotives.”
