Mk.4 coaching stock ‘first’ for Táilte Tours
NEW Irish railtour promoter, the voluntary-run Táilte Tours committee, successfully ran its first tour on
August 20. The ‘Premier Rose’ featured an outing from Dublin Connolly to Tralee and back using an Iarnród Éireann Mk.4 carriage set and 201 Class locomotive No.215. Not only was the special the first use of such a set on a railtour, but it was also the first time Mk.4 carriages had carried passengers on both the Dublin Connolly to Islandbridge and Killarney to Tralee sections. Normally only used on the Dublin Heuston to Cork service, the sets have only previously visited Connolly and Tralee on trial runs and for works in the Connolly Valeting Plant.
