■ TRAFFIC AND TRACTION: On August 6 late evening nonstop extras ran from Bangor to Lanyon Place to convey homebound concertgoers following an outdoor music event. Six-car units Nos. 4017 and 4015 each worked one extra and two extras, respectively.

August was blessed with hot sunny weather on occasions and passenger numbers on services from Belfast to coastal locations on those days experienced heavy demand. Six-car DMUs were in regular use on the Belfast to Londonderry/Portrush line.
