Alstom secures ‘180’ maintenance

-

Grand Central (GC) has awarded Alstom an £84.3 million contract to maintain its fleet of Class 180 diesel multiple units.

The open access operator currently runs five of the Alstom trains, but in 2017 will expand its fleet to ten. The contract runs from January 2017 to December 2026.

Under the deal Alstom will provide GC with materials, parts, and technical and engineering support to maintain the fleet. The support team will initially be based at Alstom’s Chester Traincare Centre, and will then co-locate with the GC fleet operations team on the East Coast Main Line in 2018.
