Alstom to repaint all Pendolinos

Alstom has been awarded a £23.6 million contract to repaint all 56 Class 390 Pendolinos operated by Virgin Trains West Coast.

The contract will be the first to be completed at Alstom’s Widnes technology centre, which is due to open in May 2017. Each train will take two weeks to repaint and the work will be completed by December 2019.

The fleet is halfway through its design lifecycle. Repainting will entail the stripping of exterior paintwork and fittings to check for minor damage. Any repairs will be done before new paint is applied.
