GREAT WESTERN

- Compiled by Howard Johnston

Bude:

Connect Bude is a new action group that aims to reconnect the Cornish coastal resort with the national network at Okehampton. It wants better bus services to there and Bodmin Parkway until this happens, and may hold rallying meetings at Holsworthy and Halwill Junction in the coming months.

Churston:

The Dartmouth Steam Railway has been given a portable building by Network Rail and Amey, for signalling use. The building was formerly located at South Marston Junction ( Swindon).

Marsh Barton:

Plans for the £ 7 million- plus new station between Exeter and Starcross are foundering because Devon County Council now has no money for it. The authority has been told that it can be accommodated in the West of England Line operating timetable, but any other additional station between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot could not.

Norton:

The area for the 500- space car park at Worcestershire Parkway has been marked out, ready for a start on the main building. The location is just east of Junction 7 of the M5 motorway.

Wallingford:

Parts of the train shed recovered from Maidenhead station in 2015 are being re- erected by contractors at the terminus of the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway station. The Railway Heritage Trust is contributing to the £ 320,000 project.
