Route Supervisory Board established for Anglia
Network Rail’s Anglia Route has become the latest recipient of a dedicated Route Supervisory Board to help drive improvements across the rail network.
Comprising NR’s Route Managing Director Meliha Duymaz, Greater Anglia MD Jamie Burles, MTR Crossrail MD Steve Murphy, Arriva Rail London MD Will Rogers and c2c MD Julian Drury, the board will also have senior representation from Transport Focus.
It will be chaired by former Virgin Trains director Arthur Leathley, who is also chairman of London TravelWatch and a Transport Focus board member.
Leathley said: “There has been huge investment and hard work put into improving rail travel in the Anglia region recently, so it is an exciting time to really focus attention on customers as new trains and timetables come into service over the next two years.”
Duymaz added: “Working together with our industry partners, we can better focus on our customers and stakeholders’ needs. This will help us deliver improvements that will make a real difference to the growing number of passengers in the region, and drive economic growth as part of our Railway Upgrade Plan.”
Network Rail’s Western Route Supervisory Board was the first such board to be established in February 2016, with a remit to better co-ordinate strategic planning between track and train operators, and to promote joint problem solving.
Supervisory boards for Wales, the East Coast Main Line, West Coast & West Midlands and Chiltern have all since followed, with NR targeting the end of spring to achieve full network-wide coverage.
