More Merseyrail platform upgrades
The second phase of platform upgrades on the Merseyrail network, to prepare for the introduction of new trains in 2020, is to start from November 12.
Running until December 16, this next phase includes the closure of Bank Hall station, with replacement buses running through the period. The new trains incorporate ‘sliding step’ technology that means passengers can board trains without ramps.
In total, there are 11 phases of the project, which is due to be completed by June 2019. Phase 3 will run from the close of service on Christmas Eve until January 2 2019, when the Wirral Loop Line and river crossing will be closed.
