£30m res­ig­nalling work in Corn­wall

A £30 mil­lion res­ig­nalling project to in­crease ser­vice fre­quency be­tween Ply­mouth and Pen­zance to twice-hourly was com­pleted on Novem­ber 19. To mark the event, Cam­borne, Re­druth and Hayle MP Ge­orge Eus­tice and Corn­wall Coun­cil port­fo­lio holder for trans­port Ge­off Brown vis­ited the re­fur­bished Roskear Junc­tion sig­nal box, Cam­borne.

The project was funded by Net­work Rail, Corn­wall Coun­cil and Corn­wall and Isles of Scilly Lo­cal En­ter­prise Part­ner­ship, and in­volved in­stalling 21 ex­tra sig­nals and up­grad­ing seven level cross­ings.

Sub­ject to con­fir­ma­tion of the May 2019 timetable, Great West­ern Rail­way ex­pects to start the twice-hourly ser­vice next year.
