£30m resignalling work in Cornwall
A £30 million resignalling project to increase service frequency between Plymouth and Penzance to twice-hourly was completed on November 19. To mark the event, Camborne, Redruth and Hayle MP George Eustice and Cornwall Council portfolio holder for transport Geoff Brown visited the refurbished Roskear Junction signal box, Camborne.
The project was funded by Network Rail, Cornwall Council and Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, and involved installing 21 extra signals and upgrading seven level crossings.
Subject to confirmation of the May 2019 timetable, Great Western Railway expects to start the twice-hourly service next year.
