Two more Northern ‘195’ DMUs arrive at Edge Hill

Northern 195109 and 195110 have been delivered to Edge Hill.

The three-car CAF diesel multiple units were built in northern Spain and shipped to the UK for testing. They arrived at Portbury Dock and were moved by road to the Merseyside depot.

It brings the number of Class 195s in the UK to eight, from an order for 55. Three two-car sets (195001-003) and five three-car sets (195103/105/107/109/110) are based at Edge Hill for training and commissioning, with two sets due to enter traffic from December 19 ( RAIL 865), and a third set entering service by the end of the year.

Northern also has CAF electric multiple units 331001 and 331102 in the UK for similar testing. These are likely to enter service early next year.
