TfL Rail ‘315s’ sent for scrap at Rotherham and Newport
More Class 315s have been sent for scrap, with 315840/855 moved to C F Booth’s at Rotherham on November 16 and 315828/841 taken to Sim’s Metals in Newport at the start of the month.
This means 11 of the 44 TfL Rail Class 315s have been scrapped. The four-car electric multiple units date from 1980-81, and are being replaced by Class 345 Aventras on the London Liverpool StreetShenfield route.
Currently 15 of the Bombardier Aventras are serviceable, with two used on TfL Rail trains from London Paddington and the rest on the eastern route.
TfL Rail has withdrawn 315828/ 832/835/840/841/845/846/850/ 855/860/861.
