Evesham extension heralds longer Intercity Express Trains
Network Rail closed the route between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester for a week in mid-November to extend platforms, with another possession planned for the Moreton-Oxford section over Christmas. In the first phase, the platforms at Honeybourne, Evesham and Pershore were extended to accommodate seven IETs. This view on November 20 shows work under way at Evesham. The other stations are Charlbury, Hanborough, Kingham, and Moreton-in-Marsh. GWR said the work was essential to allow it to run nine-car Intercity Express Trains.
