Ely: The new £49 mil­lion by­pass road over the rail­way and River Ouse has opened. It will elim­i­nate the level cross­ing at the sta­tion and the dan­ger­ously low underbridge.

Ely: The Rail­way Her­itage Trust has con­trib­uted a sixth of the £ 58,000 cost of ren­o­vat­ing Ely sta­tion frontage. The walls had been badly patched over the

years, and the old steel­work and ren­der has been re­placed.

Sax­mund­ham: The fu­ture of the Suf­folk sta­tion build­ing has been as­sured, de­spite it suf­fer­ing ex­ten­sive fire dam­age ear­lier this year. How­ever, the de­mol­ished top storey will not be re­placed. The Com­mu­nity Rail Part­ner­ship has been told that work will start in the spring to cre­ate a new wait­ing room and re­pair the canopy. Northum­ber­land Park: Net­work Rail has opened its new foot­bridge with lifts over the West An­glia Main Line, to make ac­cess to the sta­tion and its is­land plat­forms step-free. It re­places the level cross­ing closed in July 2017.
