LSL’s Class 47s head to Eastleigh for repairs

With a combined age of 108 years, Locomotive Services Ltd’s 47853 and 47805 accelerate past Claverton (south of Bath) with Statesman Rail coaches, en route from Crewe to Eastleigh (Arlington Works) for repairs on November 19. Leading locomotive 47853 (carrying its pre-TOPS number 1733) was the locomotive picked to launch the ‘XP64’ livery, which spearheade­d BR’s long-lived ‘corporate blue’ house style, including the ‘double arrows’ logo still in use today. The ‘47s’ are two of LSL’s four serviceabl­e class members so far.
