LSL’s Class 47s head to Eastleigh for re­pairs

With a com­bined age of 108 years, Lo­co­mo­tive Ser­vices Ltd’s 47853 and 47805 ac­cel­er­ate past Claver­ton (south of Bath) with States­man Rail coaches, en route from Crewe to Eastleigh (Ar­ling­ton Works) for re­pairs on Novem­ber 19. Lead­ing lo­co­mo­tive 47853 (car­ry­ing its pre-TOPS num­ber 1733) was the lo­co­mo­tive picked to launch the ‘XP64’ liv­ery, which spear­headed BR’s long-lived ‘cor­po­rate blue’ house style, in­clud­ing the ‘dou­ble ar­rows’ logo still in use to­day. The ‘47s’ are two of LSL’s four ser­vice­able class mem­bers so far.
