Holley, formerly of this parish and still a regular contributor to Stop
& Examine, sent us this picture taken recently on an East Coast Main Line Mk 4, showing that the above-seat occupancy indicators are in use.
“In a first for a railway installation they use electronic ‘paper-white’ displays, similar to a Kindle,” he writes.
“Ultimately, the LEDs on each side of the box, fitted under the luggage rack, will display green, amber or red, depending on the seat’s status.”
