Preston-Blackpool drainage works

The Preston-Blackpool railway began a seven-Sundays closure on January 6, to enable drainage improvements in the final phase of the route’s upgrade,

Drainage works will take place in the Poulton-le-Fylde and Kirkham & Wesham areas, while exterior cladding on the latter station’s two new lifts will also be installed.

Buses are replacing trains between Preston, Blackpool North and Blackpool South on the Sundays that the work takes place.

The upgrade has included electrification and resignalling.
