Stop & Examine
Old rolling stock put to good use.
Back in the autumn, Phil Chinery joined our debate on old posters that still adorn railway station walls, sharing his reminiscences of Wemyss Bay.
Phil was unable to supply any photographs of the old posters, but we know we can always rely on RAIL readers.
“By good fortune, I took a photograph of the old posters in September 2016,” says James Dixon, from Putney.
“However, none of these particular posters show prices denominated in pre- decimalisation pounds, shillings and pence. I wonder if there was another poster around the corner which I did not photograph?
“The Austin Maestro depicted has an ‘M’ registration, which suggests that that particular poster dates from about 1973 at the earliest.”
Michael Entwistle also snapped the posters a couple of years ago.
Thanks to both James and Michael. Can anyone else follow their example with similar old posters? Email us at rail@ bauermedia.co.uk.
