Yes, the Class 700 units are technologi­cal marvels… yet passenger comfort is very poor. And London Bridge is impressive… until you consider the long walks when changing trains.

That’s also a feature of modernised stations elsewhere, notably St Pancras. An architectu­ral gem brought to new life, certainly - but for the customers, extremely lengthy slogs between various bits of railway.
