National walkouts?

Regarding the cost of nationalisation ( Open Access, RAIL 865), am I just a plain cynic or would the cost be far higher than £70 billion in the long term?

It would give the rail unions free reign to walk out nationally at the drop of a hat, and the network would grind to a halt. It’s been grim enough for passengers in certain areas - just imagine the prospects of national walkouts. Peter Long, Powys
