Replacements sought for ‘171s’

Discussions are under way on replacements for Southern’s diesel fleet, after it was confirmed that the Class 171s would move to East Midlands Railway.

The Class 171s operate the London Bridge-Uckfield and Ashford-Brighton routes. GTR Chief Operating Officer Steve White said discussions were ongoing regarding replacements, but declined to comment on what the options were.
