‘165’ at Derby for hybrid conversion
Angel Trains sent two-car
165004 to LORAM UK at Derby on April 28, for its conversion to a low-emission hybrid drive unit.
The rolling stock leasing company is working with
Chiltern Railways (which leases the ‘165’) and Magtec (a UK-based electric vehicle specialist) on the £4 million project.
At Derby, the ‘165’ will be fitted with Magtec traction motors, range extender engines and traction batteries.
The work forms part of Angel’s plans for sustainable rolling stock to meet decarbonisation targets.
