to see that the historic Zero post has been restored to York station, following refurbishment [ Stop & Examine, RAIL 916],” writes Roger Backhouse, from York.
“However, along the line, York City and District Model Engineers recently installed a Zero post on their 5in and 7 ¼ in ground level track, adding ex-British Railways quarter posts donated by a local resident. Member Paul Tanner (pictured) was involved in making and setting up posts.
“So if you’re passing their Dringhouses track just west of the main line on Wednesdays, look out for the socially distanced work gang and give them a friendly wave!”
